Maples are trees or shrubs in the genus Acer. The Red Maple has spectacular fall colors, and the Sugar Maple is tapped for sap, which is boiled to produce maple sugar. Some maple wood has a highly decorative wood grain, known as flame maple and quilt maple. Mature trees reach 300-400 years of age, and 90-120 feet in height.
